Every so often it becomes necessary to redesign this website from the ground up. The last time I did it was back in 2006. This redesign is only about a year overdue, as so many of my things are, but it’s live now.
Apart from the shiny new design, most of the changes are behind the scenes: I moved the site to a new blogging platform and imported all the hand-coded pages into that platform. The main advantage of this is that it will be much easier to make small changes in the future. For example, I should be able to make a bit more progress on the Species Guide, which is still woefully incomplete (but that’s not new; it’s been on the “going to get to that real soon now” list since the site launched back in 2004). The Care Guide has been updated and expanded, but I expect to be tinkering with it for some time to come.
But most of all, I can now start working on the backlog of articles that were waiting for me to finish the redesign before I could start writing them. Expect new content, soon.
