Mexico: Oaxaca.
Description
Bogert’s Garter Snake is found in oak and pine-oak forests at high elevations in the Mesa del Sur in central Oaxaca. It was previously considered a population of Godman’s Garter Snake, Thamnophis godmani, until Rossman and Burbrink’s 2005 paper reassigned four populations of T. godmani into four separate species — T. bogerti, T. conanti, T. godmani and T. lineri — on the grounds that each population was morphologically distinct and geographically isolated from the others. Very little is known about the four species in this complex.
