A population of Red-sided Garter Snakes (Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis) near Fort Smith, Northwest Territories is the northernmost population of garter snakes (and the furthest north in North American you can find snakes of any kind). A citizen science program launched by Wood Buffalo National Park is involving local volunteers in a two-year survey of that snake population.
