Mexican Garter Snake Denied ESA Protection

In a press release, the Center for Biological Diversity expresses its disappointment at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision not to list the Mexican Garter Snake (Thamnophis eques) as an endangered species — largely, they say, due to the species’s occurrence in Mexico, where, while it is listed as threatened there, surveys of that species have not taken place.
